Police in Nevada have confirmed that they served a search warrant this week in connection with the unsolved killing of rapper Tupac Shakur. Detectives conducted the search at a home in Henderson, a suburb of Las Vegas, where Shakur was fatally shot in September 1996. However, the Las Vegas Metropolitan police did not provide further details about the search, citing the ongoing investigation into his murder.
Tupac Shakur, known by his stage name 2Pac, was 25 years old when he was killed. The case remains unsolved, and no arrests have been made, with no suspects currently in custody. The home that was searched is located less than 20 miles from the Las Vegas Strip, where Shakur was shot in a drive-by shooting.
A statement from the Las Vegas police confirmed the search warrant: “LVMPD can confirm a search warrant was served in Henderson, Nevada, on July 17, 2023, as part of the ongoing Tupac Shakur homicide investigation. We will have no further comment at this time.”
Las Vegas Police Lt Jason Johansson stated that detectives are actively working on the cold case, expressing hope that one day they can resolve the long-standing mystery surrounding the rapper’s murder.
Tupac Shakur, renowned for hits like “California Love,” “All Eyez on Me,” “Changes,” and “I Ain’t Mad at Cha,” was shot four times in his car while waiting at a red light on September 13, 1996. In recognition of his contributions to the music industry, he was posthumously inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2017.
