Our Style
We take a professional and clean approach to our stories to ensure maximum clarity and usefulness for our readers. We encourage writers to add their own voice but to avoid using slang, colloquialisms, and unnecessary rhetoric. If you are presenting your own opinion, please back it up with factual evidence and try to avoid using the first-person.
Writing Tips
We look for articles that are factual, compelling, colorful, and concise. Headlines should have a strong hook but not over-promise, and the article should contain the content that the headline implies it will. Headlines should also avoid being too simple or generic. For example, we recommend using part of a quote, presenting a question, or including a statistic.
The article’s body should follow the above-mentioned guidelines and be reader-friendly, which means breaking up paragraphs into smaller chunks, using subheadings, and avoiding overly technical language when possible. We typically publish articles between 250-600 words long.
At the bottom of the article, please disclose any conflicts of interest you may have with the content or subjects of the article. These include stock holdings, insider status, working relationships, and familial relationships. If we have reason to suspect a conflict of interest that is not disclosed, we will withhold the submission from publication.
Submission Restrictions
We reserve the right to reject any submission that:
- Have repeated spelling, grammar, or style mistakes.
- Use profanity, with some consideration for quotations.
- Plagiarize or fail to adequately cite sources.
- Make factually incorrect or questionable statements.
- Promote a product or service or “pump” a trade.
- Primarily serve SEO purposes.
- Present entirely one-sided trading ideas.
- Are, or seem, computer-generated.
- Are not relevant or insightful to our readers.

A: If you’re unsure whether your topic is suitable, you can email us at info@ratednews.com and a member of our editorial staff will get back to you as soon as possible. Please note that even if we deem your idea as good, there may be other factors that prevent us from accepting your submission.
Q: How do I cite sources used in a story?
A: If the information used in your article is available online, we recommend hyperlinking the relevant text to the source. For example, in the sentence, “According to a Rated News report, management denied any wrongdoing,” hyperlink the phrase “Rated News report” to the source. If you’re unsure how to cite a source, feel free to ask us for guidance.
Q: How can I find out if my submission was published?
A: Our team will let contributors know if and when their article will be published.
Q: Why hasn’t my story been published yet?
A: Due to the high volume of submissions we receive, we cannot respond to every article. Please note that Rated News does not guarantee that any submission will be published. If your article has not been published within five business days, it means that our editors have rejected it.

While we cannot guarantee that we will be able to respond and/or publish the story in time, we will do our best to accommodate your request.

Q: Can I publish my article elsewhere if it gets accepted for Rated News?
