A string of attacks has rocked Nottingham, resulting in the deaths of three individuals and the arrest of a suspect. Police have declared a “serious incident” and have cordoned off several streets across the city.
The first incident occurred on Ilkeston Road, where two people were found dead on the street just after 4 am. Shortly thereafter, officers responded to another attack on Milton Street, where a van driver allegedly attempted to run over three people in what appears to be a connected incident. The injured victims from the second attack are currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital.
A third man was discovered dead on Magdala Road, nearby the other two crime scenes. Police and emergency services are present at multiple locations throughout the city.
A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody. Footage shows the arrest taking place on Bentinck Road, with three officers apprehending the suspect beside a white van.
Photographs of the van used in the attack reveal small circular cracks at the bottom of the windshield and damage to the bumper, presumably from the impact. A bag can be seen on the road next to the van, although its connection to the attacker is unclear.
Reports indicate a flurry of police activity on Ilkeston Road, where armed police officers closed off the area. Witnesses observed officers entering a commercial property and later putting two young women in the back of a marked car.
An eyewitness account described a young man and woman being stabbed by an assailant dressed all in black near the junction of Ilkeston Road and Bright Street. The witness reported hearing distressing screams and seeing repeated stabbing before the victims collapsed. The attacker calmly walked away from the scene towards town after the incident.
Residents in the area reported hearing a loud bang and screaming as a white van struck two individuals in Nottingham city center. Emergency services swiftly arrived at the scene, transporting the victims to the hospital.
Another resident described witnessing the arrest, with armed police officers apprehending a man and discovering a large knife when inspecting the van. The surrounding streets, Maples Street and Bentinck Road, were subsequently cordoned off.
The tragic events have left the community in shock, with residents expressing their disbelief and describing the city as a close-knit and supportive community. Nottinghamshire police have implemented road closures across a wide area of the city center, affecting Ilkeston Road, Milton Street, Maples Street, Woodborough Road, Magdala Road, and the Maid Marian Way junction with Parliament Street.
