Following gunfire from Lebanon targeting northern Israel, specifically the Mount Dov region, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) counteracted with artillery fire. No injuries or fatalities have been reported from the altercation on Sunday morning.
Hezbollah, the militant group, took credit for the mortar fire launched from southern Lebanon into Israeli territories.
As a precautionary measure, Mateh Asher Regional Council in the Western Galilee has advised its inhabitants to relocate to the central region of Israel for the upcoming 24-48 hours. It’s worth noting that this was a recommendation rather than a directive. Concurrently, the IDF confirmed the beginning of evacuations from southern Israel, located near the Gaza Strip border.
The IDF spokesperson stated the forces are on high alert, ready to tackle any emerging threats and ensuring the security and well-being of Israel’s citizens.
This recent event comes in the wake of increased aggression from Hamas, who launched an unexpected attack on Israel this past Saturday. The assault included a massive rocket onslaught and the capture of numerous Israeli civilians and military personnel. The confrontations have resulted in around 2,000 injuries and a tragic loss of 300 lives in Israel.
