Gavin Plumb, a 36-year-old from Potters Field, Harlow, stands accused of plotting the kidnapping and murder of renowned TV presenter Holly Willoughby. Plumb has been formally charged with solicitation to commit murder and incitement to commit kidnapping. After being arrested on 4 October, Plumb is scheduled to make his court appearance at the Chelmsford Magistrates Court later today.
Detective Superintendent Rob Kirby praised the rapid progress of the investigation, acknowledging the teamwork of the officers and their national partners. “The safeguarding of any victim is paramount,” Kirby remarked, highlighting their commitment to collaborate with the Metropolitan Police Service throughout the investigation.
The alleged plot came to light on Thursday, leading Willoughby to opt out of her hosting duties on ‘This Morning’ shortly before the show’s commencement. ITV, in response to the unsettling revelations, has ramped up security measures and is providing continuous support to Willoughby in coordination with the police. A spokesperson from ITV voiced their shock, extending their full support to Holly and her family during this trying period.
Dermot O’Leary, a fellow presenter, addressed the situation on ‘This Morning’ by acknowledging the arrest and the subsequent charges pressed against the suspect. Alison Hammond expressed her dismay at the recent turn of events, conveying her heartfelt sentiments to Holly and her family.
In a recent appearance on ‘This Morning,’ Prime Minister Rishi Sunak also expressed his concern, stating, “I just want to say I was so sorry to hear about everything going on with Holly, just wanted to send my best.”
