In the fifth round of the Turkish Super League, Fenerbahce welcomed Antalyaspor to their home field and won 3-2, but not without significant challenges. Once again, Edin Dzeko delivered an outstanding performance, making a crucial contribution with a goal and an assist that greatly influenced today’s victory. The home team encountered issues as early as the fifth minute when Under suffered an injury, leading to the substitution of another key player, Kahveci.
The turning point occurred in the 31st minute when the visiting team took the lead. Dario Sarić made a fantastic play, despite being fouled, and the referee wisely allowed play to continue. The ball found its way to van de Streek, who then assisted Buksa, resulting in a goal that tested Livakovic.
Fenerbahce managed to equalize in the first minute of stoppage time in the first half. Aziz delivered a precise cross, and Dzeko soared to head the ball into the net. Initially, it was ruled as offside but, upon review through VAR recording, it was determined that the margin was too narrow to disallow Dijamanta’s goal.
The game took a dramatic turn in the 56th minute when Edin Dzeko played the role of an assistant, setting up Kahveci for a 2-1 lead. However, Antalyaspor quickly responded, with Buksa netting his second goal just seven minutes later.
The decisive moment came in the 80th minute when the visitors’ goalkeeper saved a shot from Dzeko, and after a corner, Szymanski secured Fenerbahce’s lead, which they maintained until the end. Edin Dzeko had a golden opportunity to seal the victory in the second minute of stoppage time, going one-on-one against the visitors’ goalkeeper. Unfortunately, he seemed to underestimate the goalkeeper and merely nudged the ball toward the open part of the net, allowing the goalkeeper to make an easy save and deflect the ball into the corner.
With a maximum of 12 points from four games played, Fenerbahce tops the table, while Antalyaspor finds themselves in 14th place with only three points. In the next round, Dzeko and his teammates will visit Alanyaspor, while Antalyaspor will host Samsunspor. Notably, this marks Dzeko’s fourth goal in the Super League, placing him third in the scoring charts, trailing behind Thiam and Icardi, who each have one more goal. Dijamant also recorded his second assist. Today, Edin Dzeko played the full 90 minutes for his team, as did Dario Saric, an occasional member of the BiH national team, on the other side.
