AC Milan has made a significant move in the transfer market, acquiring Tijjani Reijnders from AZ Alkmaar. The 24-year-old midfielder joined the club for a fee of 19 million euros, and Milan has officially confirmed the signing with a five-year contract until the summer of 2028.
Tijjani Reijnders has spent his entire career in his native Netherlands, with his roots tracing back to Zwolle, the club from his birth city. He progressed through the ranks, also playing for Twente before finding his place at AZ Alkmaar. A short loan stint at RKC Waalwijk further contributed to his development, and now he embarks on a new adventure in Italy as an AC Milan player.
Despite having played for various clubs throughout his career, this marks the first time that a transfer fee has been paid for his services. While he has not yet represented the Dutch national team, he showcased his talent with three appearances in the U-20 category.
In the last Eredivisie season, Reijnders featured in 33 matches and managed to score three goals. Additionally, in the 2018/2019 season, he achieved success by winning the U20 Elite League in the U20 category under the Netherlands flag.
AC Milan’s acquisition of Tijjani Reijnders is the third paid reinforcement for the club this summer, following the signings of Pulisic and Loftus-Cheek from Chelsea for 20 million euros and 16 million euros, respectively. The club also welcomed Luka Romero and Marco Sportiello as free agents, further strengthening their squad for the upcoming season.
