Liverpool has been buzzing this weekend as thousands of fans descended on city for the 2026 Sound City Festival
Crowds flocked to Liverpool city centre for the second day of Sound City Festival today, Sunday, May 3. Sound City returned this weekend for another city-wide musical spectacle in popular, historic and grassroots venues.
The festival, running from Saturday, May 2 to Sunday, May 3, saw both homegrown and international bands and artists performing at venues across the city. The venues include Grand Central Hall, Arts Club (loft and theatre), Kazimier Stockroom, EBGBs – in the basement of Heebie Jeebies, Spanish Caravan, The Jacaranda and The Shipping Forecast.
The line-up has featured headliners Jalen Ngonda, Keo and Kate Nash with other notable acts including Keyside, Westside Cowboy, MT Jones, Brooke Combe and The Molotovs.
Since 2008, the annual music festival has showcased dozens of emerging talents with this year’s rising stars including The Rolling People, TIDETIED, PISS, Brooki, Tom Rowley, Adult Leisure, AKA, Zander, Jamie McIntyre, Ben Ellis, Tough Cookie, Little Grandad, Bleech 9:3, Basht, The North, Dolder, Talia Rae, Dirty Circus, Girl In The Year Above, Palembu and Remee.
Previous performers at the festival include Ed Sheeran, Lizzo, Stormzy, Grimes, and The 1975, alongside local stars such as Red Rum Club.
The city was buzzing with people as thousands of fans made their way around the city to watch live music performances and celebrate independent music.
