An easyJet flight from Liverpool John Lennon Airport to Alicante was forced to make a diversion due to a medical emergency on board the plane. The easyJet Airbus A319-11 took off from the airport at 8.14pm this evening (Saturday, May 2), heading to Alicante, but was forced to abandon the journey.
The flight was scheduled to land in Alicante at 11.55pm, but was diverted to Bordeaux due to a passenger having a medical emergency. A passenger onboard the flight who contacted the ECHO said: “We got a message over the tannoy saying we are landing due to an issue in the cabin and then paramedics came on.”
Flight tracking data on tracking platform Flightradar24 showed the aircraft exiting the UK, reaching altitudes of approximately 40,000 ft before it flew over the English Channel and over France before landing in Bordeaux.
Passengers onboard the flight have received the following message from easyJet Operations Control: “We’re very sorry that your flight has now been diverted. This is due to a passenger welfare issue.
“The disruption to your flight is outside of our control and is considered to be an extraordinary circumstance.
“We plan to refuel and continue your flight as soon as possible. Your crew will keep you up to date.”
