The panel on CNN’s “NewsNight” with Abby Phillip erupted on Tuesday after a MAGA podcaster took a shot at former first lady Michelle Obama. Phillip played a clip of Obama describing America as being in its “janky era” during a podcast interview with Hasan Minaj. She also played a compilation of Trump claiming that America is a “country in decline” and that several major cities around the country are “hellholes.” Emily Austin, host of “The Emily Austin Show,” claimed during the discussion that she wasn’t bothered by Obama’s “janky” comment. Instead, she was bothered by Obama’s remark that she was “proud of how people are responding to this administration.” “That really bothered me because Charlie Kirk was murdered, Savanah Hernandez was beaten up by a fat, angry man in Minnesota …” Austin began. Phillip argued that Obama was not referring to the death of the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk in her comments. “Let’s not be ridiculous!” Phillip said. She added that Obama was using her Constitutional right to speak out against the Trump administration, as were other protesters.
