Following his death, Mr Newby-Gallagher’s family issued a touching tribute, remembering him as the “kindest, most loyal, loving, and funny person you could ever meet”.
The statement, written by his wife, said: “Jay was the best husband, son, brother, son-in-law and brother-in-law that any of us could ever have wished for.
“He was the kindest, most loyal, loving, and funny person you could ever meet. He would always light up any room with his smile and sense of humour, and he loved his family and our dog Bodie more than anything.
“It was truly an honour to be your wife, and life will never be the same without you, you’ve taken a piece of me with you that I will never get back. I’ve loved every second I got to spend with you, but it will never be enough time.
“I will love you forever, you will always be my home. All your family and friends are so proud of the person you are, and we will all miss you forever.”
Mr Newby-Gallagher had been due to perform at the Scotch Piper Inn pub in Lydiate. In a tribute posted to Facebook, the pub said: “We are devastated to hear of the tragic passing of Jay Newby-Gallagher and send our deepest condolences to his family.
“Jay has played at the Scotch Piper several times and was in fact due to play this Friday. He was a talented musician and had many friends and followers here who will miss him deeply. Rest in peace Jay.”
