Andrew Contento appeared in court
A man has been locked up for making indecent images of children after police checked his phone. Police officers attended the home of Andrew Contento on Rock Lane East in Rock Ferry where they conducted a routine home visit on November 19, 2025, as part of the requirements under the sexual offences act 2023.
When officers checked his phone, they found internet browsing activity which indicated he had access to a known website associated with illegal child abuse material. The device was seized and sent to Merseyside Police’s digital forensic unit where officers confirmed he was in possession of indecent images of children.
Contento was charged and convicted of three counts of making indecent images of children and one count of breaching a sexual harm prevention order.
Appearing in Liverpool Crown Court, Contento was sentenced to a total of 10 years and three months with an indefinite sex offender register, deprivation of rights order and a financial penalty of £288.
Detective Inspector Katie Coote said: “Staff working in the sex offender unit regularly conduct visits to ensure offenders on a sexual harm prevention order are closely monitored and adhere to the conditions imposed on them.
“Officers also work closely with partners in probation and housing to ensure that the public are protected, and risk of further offending is minimised.
“We will continue proactively targeting those people in our community who contribute to the cycle of abuse by making or possessing indecent images and I would encourage anyone with concerns or information to get in contact with us.
“We always act on all the information we receive.”
