‘Murder Week’ begins on the soap next week

One character will be left for dead(Image: ITV)

Everything you need to know as Coronation Street cancelled tonight:

  • Coronation Street has been taken off air due to a schedule shake-up on ITV1. Fans can usually tune into the drama on the cobbles every weeknight at 8.30pm. However, viewers will miss out on Friday’s instalment.
  • It’s been a chaotic week on Coronation Street in the lead up to Carla and Lisa’s wedding, and fans will have to wait until next week for the next episode. From cancellations to rescheduled episodes, it’s safe to say fans have been baffled by the schedule changes on ITV.
  • The final of I’m A Celebrity South Africa airs tonight on ITV, when one campmate will be crowned the ultimate “legend”. Fans have been tuning in to the spin-off reality show over the past three weeks which has featured several star-studded names including Gemma Collins, Harry Redknapp, Adam Thomas and Sir Mo Farah.
  • Coverage of the live final begins at 7.30pm on ITV1 and lasts until 9pm, which means both Coronation Street and Emmerdale have been taken off air. Both soaps aired last Sunday (April 19) evening instead, to make up for the missing broadcasts.
  • The schedule change comes at a critical time in Coronation Street as the countdown has begun in the lead up to the shocking death, which is set to take place at the end of “Murder Week” next week. Across five nights, viewers will revisit the same day but each episode will be seen from the perspective of a different potential victim.
  • At the end of the week, Betsy Swain will find one of them dead and the hunt to find the killer will begin. The murder episode will air on Friday, May 1.
