Donald Trump has hit back at Prince Harry after the Duke of Sussex called on the US for “leadership” amid the ongoing war in Ukraine.Harry made a surprise and unexpected appearance in Ukraine this morning, where he directly challenged Washington to fulfil its commitments to the nation.Speaking at the Kyiv Security Forum, the duke said the US has a “singular role” in the conflict in Ukraine because it vowed to protect the country’s borders and its sovereignty.”This is a moment for American leadership,” he said.

“A moment for America to show that it can honour its international treaty obligations – not out of charity, but out of its enduring role in global security and strategic stability.”And this evening, the US President responded.Speaking in the Oval Office, when asked about Harry’s comments, Mr Trump said: “How’s he doing? How’s his wife? Please give her my regards, OK?”But he then went on to claim he “speaks more for the UK than Prince Harry,” who left his royal duties to migrate to the US back in 2020.”I don’t know,” President Trump said. “I know one thing, Prince Harry is not speaking for the UK, that’s for sure.”I think I’m speaking for the UK more than Prince Harry, that’s for sure. But thank him for his advice.”The war of words comes merely days before King Charles is due to head over for his state visit. The King and Queen Camilla will visit three locations on the trip, which coincides with America’s celebration of 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence.LATEST ROYAL NEWSKing Charles hiring extra staff at beloved estate amid security concerns with 135 new homes plannedWilliam and Catherine share new photograph of Prince Louis to mark their youngest son’s 8th birthdayPrince Harry warned ‘it could get uncomfortable’ in visa scare after scolding Donald TrumpPresident Trump has struggled to contain his excitement regarding his royal visitors, and this evening proved no different.”We’re having King Charles come, he’s a friend of mine,” he continued.”We’re really looking forward to it. We’ve spoken, and we’re going to have a great time.”I tell you, if we’d had that ballroom built, it would be full. I wish we had more seats.”The President concluded by professing his “love” for the UK – despite his recent condemnation of the country’s governance.Earlier today, Mr Trump said the upcoming visit could “absolutely” go some way to mending the fractured relationship between the US and UK.The President has repeatedly hammered UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer for his hesitation to join the US-Israeli offensive in Iran.As a result, the so-called “special relationship” between the two nations has waned, as the Prime Minister continues to condemn Mr Trump for the war in Iran. Our Standards:
