The body of a teenage boy who vanished at a popular beauty spot has been found in a lake. West Midlands Police were called at around 6pm on Thursday, July 10, to reports a boy had gone missing in Powell’s Pool at Sutton Park in Birmingham.
Emergency services carried out extensive efforts to find the teen, however his body was later recovered in the lake, police confirmed. His death is not being treated as suspicious.
In a statement, police said: “The body of a teenage boy has been recovered from a pool in Sutton Park, Birmingham, this evening. West Midlands Police are supporting the family of the boy at this tragic time.
“Extensive efforts by all emergency services were carried out following the boy going missing in the water just after 6pm. Specialist teams were deployed from fire and rescue, ambulance colleagues, and Birmingham City Council colleagues.
“Sadly this has resulted in the boy’s body being found and our thoughts are with his family at this time. His death was not being treated as suspicious at this time and we are liaising with the coroner.”
Powell’s Pool in Sutton Park was cordoned off by police on Thursday with West Midlands Fire Service officers conducting what appeared to be a search using boats. Crews were seen going in and out of the water, BirminghamLive reports.
