Mark Wright has apologised after he met with a backlash over an Instagram post in light of the Air India plane crash
Mark Wright has issued an apology following a social media error after the tragic Air India plane crash. He swiftly removed a post he made which had caused upset and made a statement on his Instagram Stories, expressing his regret and describing the timing as a “horrendous coincidence”.
The 38 year old television personality, and his wife actor Michelle Keegan, also 38, have been documenting their Spanish holiday on Instagram. The holiday was a family affair, with Mark’s relatives joining them and their three-month-old baby Palma experiencing her first trip overseas.
It is believed they have now returned to the UK, but on Tuesday, Mark reportedly posted an image of the family in front of a private jet, joking about the lack of legroom on regular flights.
The Heart radio presenter faced criticism for the post amidst reports of the Air India flight disaster, which occurred shortly after departure from Ahmedabad, destined for Gatwick Airport in London.
Acknowledging the error, Mark explained to his followers that the post had been pre-scheduled and he had not intended any disrespect.
is statement on Instagram Story read: “I apologise for a post I just put up on my page after today’s heartbreaking events. I have posts from a holiday that are on the scheduled setting, which go out on future days I have set them for which was done last week.”, reports the Mirror.
Mark explained that the timing of his post was an unfortunate “coincidence” with the Air India crash.
He reassured fans that upon realising the significance of the day, he “immediately” removed the content from his page.
In a statement to his followers this evening, he said: “It’s a horrendous coincidence that today’s post was on such a devastating day. Once I logged in to my Instagram and realised the post had gone out, I immediately deleted it.”

He said: “My heart goes out to everyone who has been effected from today. I’m sorry for this mistake and any offence caused.”
