Rep. Dan Meuser (R-PA) suggested Gov. Josh Shapiro’s (D-PA) opposition to President Donald Trump was to blame after an arson attack on his home.In a Thursday interview on Newsmax, Meuser responded to the attack by, at first, saying inflammatory language was not to blame before placing the responsibility on Shapiro.”Let’s look at the bigger picture,” he said. “When you have a Tesla car bomb set outside of Trump hotel and blows up virtually and there’s no denouncing right from the left… So the things like that also just add to this.”ALSO READ: ‘We know where this leads’: How Trump’s crackdown puts Jewish people in peril”I got into a little controversy with with Gov. Shapiro because I stated that he makes comments where he said President Trump is an existential threat to democracy and he recently stated very falsely that President Trump and the administration was withholding funding for food for hungry Pennsylvanians keeping those that are hungry from acts accessing food, a complete falsehood completely made up,” he added. “And when you say things like that, that drives — that creates hatred.”Meuser has indicated that he could challenge Shapiro for governor in 2026.
