Coronation Street actor Ben Price has revealed that there is one thing he is going to miss most about working with the legendary soap actor and soap mum Helen Worth
Coronation Street star Ben Price has revealed the one thing that he will miss about his on-screen mum, Helen Worth, who plays Gail Platt.
Looking back at Helen’s time on the cobbles, Corrie brothers Ben Price and Jack P Shepherd (who plays David Platt) spoke about her time on the show and how they will adapt to life on the soap without her.
Chatting on their On The Sofa podcast, host and fellow Corrie star, Colson Smith asked: “What specific thing will you really miss the most about working with Helen?”
In a nod to Helen’s legendary status on the show, Ben claimed that he’ll miss one thing in particular about his on-screen mum’s departure: “I think for me, it’s that line, that line of ‘oh you’re in the Platts’. Helen and Sue (who plays Gail’s mum, Audrey Roberts), they give you that feeling that once you start the scene and you’re with them, you’re in Corrie history, you kind of miss that.”

But, he added: “Look, it’s going to be fine, it’s going to be a bit different and we’ve all been in Corrie long enough to make that again. But, there is something pretty special about being with someone who has been there for 50 years, it’s pretty special, you’re not going to get that in many walks of life.”
Helen Worth brought her 50 year-long stay on the show to an end in June this year, with the soap star having already filmed her final scenes before her character is set to depart at the end of this year.
During her drama filled time on the cobbles the 73-year-old has been at the heart of some of the biggest storylines in soap history, having first appeared on the street aged just 24 before going on to having three children, they have since cemented themselves as a crucial part of the show ever since.
Opening up about her decision to call time on her five decade long stay on the show, earlier this year, Helen said: “This year felt like the perfect time to leave the show after celebrating 50 years in the most wonderful job on the most wonderful street in the world. I made the decision at the start of the year and spoke to the producers who were very kind and understanding.”
