Rep. Nancy Mace (R-NY) picked a fight Monday with a newly elected congresswoman headed to the U.S. Capitol for the 119th United States Congress, but one former Donald Trump aide wasn’t having it. During “Hot Topics” on “The View” Tuesday, former Trump communications director Alyssa Farah Griffin slammed Mace over a planned resolution that would prevent incoming Rep. Sarah McBride (D-DE), who is a transgender woman, from using a women’s bathroom in the Capitol. Mace has said it “jeopardizes the safety and dignity” of female lawmakers to use the bathroom in a stall next to a transgender woman.Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has. expressed similar sentiments toward McBride. Mace claimed that there was an education mandate because there were Republican ads about transgender people in sports. Whoopi Goldberg pointed out that transgender Americans are less than 1% of the population and that there are many more important issues that lawmakers aren’t dealing with. “I worry about people going to be able to get medical insurance, are people — all this stuff that we’ve been talking about. Feeding their kids, you know, taking care of business. I don’t understand why this is her welcome to someone who is coming to make a difference in the country,” said Goldberg.
