Koki Ogawa scored on a pair of headers as Japan took another step toward the 2026 World Cup with a 3-1 win away to China that left the visitors firmly in control of Group C in the Asian final-round qualifiers.
After a difficult opening half hour against a defense-minded China at Xiamen Egret Stadium, Japan began to find space in the attacking third, largely through the tireless work of Takefusa Kubo in the middle and Junya Ito on the right.
