GB News’s Lee Anderson was embroiled in a feisty clash on the People’s Channel this evening over Labour’s push for net zero.Ex-Labour MP Stephen Pound took the Reform MP to task over his claim Ed Miliband is pursuing a policy of “madness”, saying he “couldn’t disagree more”.It comes after Lee grilled the Labour Government in the Commons, calling on them to acknowledge fossil fuels as a “gift of God”.“We are burning wood at Drax Power Station, it’s a few miles away from an old coal mine”, he said.“The coal mine used to send coal to this power station, on their doorstep, to produce electricity.“It’s absolute madness. This power station is the biggest polluter in the country.”Pound fired back: “I couldn’t disagree more. I know China is mining for coal but in this country we have a fairly good record.“What is happening with net zero is, we’re building wind turbines and using renewables. There is a hope for the future here and we would be stupid to turn our backs on it.”Lee has been a persistent critic of Labour’s net zero strategy, spearheaded by Energy Security minister Ed Miliband.In October, he lashed out at the decommissioning Ratcliffe-Upon-Soar’s coal-fired power station in Nottinghamshire.Posting on X, the former coal miner raged: “Who’d have thought it?””We’ve just shut a coal-burning power station whilst we’re still importing liquid gas on ships. The madness is staggering.”
