Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-TN) clashed with MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell Thursday when she began fact-checking allegations about Democrats weaponizing the Justice Department. While Hagerty wouldn’t say whether or not he thought former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) was a good choice for attorney general, he said he “can understand” why President-elect Donald Trump would look to someone like Gaetz to run the Justice Department. “It is amazing to me that people are reacting the way they are, what you just showed — because there has been no one better at channeling the American public’s frustration with weaponization through the Department of Justice than Matt Gaetz, you can understand the president’s frustration with the DOJ, during his campaign,” said Hagerty.
