“He was a beloved husband, dad, grandad, great-grandad, brother, uncle and friend. He touched the lives of everyone he met with his selfless acts of kindness. He loved holidays, rugby league and trips to the caravan.“He was a man of little words, but we never doubted his love for us. His legacy will live on through his family, who loved him so dearly. He always said that, ‘life is a stage and we’re all the bloody clowns’.“Rest in peace, until we meet again. We ask you to please respect our family’s privacy during this difficult time.”
The ECHO spoke to residents who reported hearing an “almighty crash” on the night of Mr Langley’s death. The neighbour, who did not wish to be named, said: “I’d gone to bed because I wasn’t feeling very well. My son came in to ask me to turn the telly off because I’d fallen asleep with it on. As he came out of his room, he saw blue lights coming up the road. He looked out and saw an ambulance outside.
“At half 12 I woke up coughing and I opened the window to get some fresh air. I saw some movement below and the police were there and it’s been like that ever since Tuesday. They’ve been coming and going. It’s heart-breaking.”
The neighbour said their son came home from work and heard an “almighty crash,” he said: “I heard an almighty crash and then nothing and went to sleep.”
