The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed early on Saturday the infiltration of individuals from the Gaza Strip into Israel. In response, the IDF increased its readiness status and communicated its stance on the situation. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant are actively monitoring the situation. Defense Minister Gallant has also authorized the call-up of additional reservists.
This incident followed closely on the heels of a series of rocket launches from Gaza into multiple locations in Israel. These attacks resulted in casualties, with reports indicating at least one fatality and several injuries. Hamas, through its military wing leader Mohammed Deif, stated that these rocket attacks were in response to events at the Al-Aqsa Mosque and called on groups in Lebanon to join the actions.
As rocket attacks persisted, residents in both southern and central Israel were advised to remain near or in bomb shelters for their safety. Furthermore, the IDF issued directives for residents near the Gaza border to stay indoors due to ongoing security concerns. Reports from the area indicated confrontations in southern towns. In some areas, there were claims of individuals on motorcycles navigating the streets and engaging in confrontations.
Meanwhile, in areas affected by rocket launches, alarms were triggered in locations as distant as Tel Aviv.
