Many influential supporters of President Donald Trump are publicly expressing regret for backing him, but online trolls are having none of their excuses.”THAT DOES IT I AM DONE THIS WAS THE LAST STRAW I’M SO ANGRY,” posted right-wing podcaster Tim Pool, who openly supported Trump. Pool was angry at Trump for calling conservative commentators like Candace Owens, Megyn Kelly, Alex Jones and Tucker Carlson as “NUT JOBS” for turning on him over his unprovoked invasion of Iran. A user called The Dark Kite replied “you have died of ‘trust the plan,'” while another critic called described Pool’s regret as meaningless because “you will do nothing, you will vote for JD Vance. I don’t want to hear ‘im off the Trump train’ that means nothing ‘I will not vote for JD Vance’ means something.”Meanwhile, another X commenter told Pool “F—— you too Tim Pool you grifting a—— loser.” Pool has struggled with his public image since late 2024, when it was revealed that he and other far-right influencers like Benny Johnson were paid millions of dollars by Russia to disseminate pro-Kremlin talking points. No one had trouble interpreting the argument made by former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), who like Pool, expressed outrage at Trump’s attack on Carlson, Kelly, Owens and Jones.”President Trump has gone mad as he wages war against Iran, a broken campaign promise,” Greene wrote. “I fought alongside Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly, Candace Owens, and Alex Jones to help get Trump elected. And now he goes off on a rambling rant attacking all of us in one post. We NEVER changed, Trump did. AMERICA FIRST!!!”In response, an X user called “Brubes” flashed a meme of the fictional character Dr. Evil putting his finger in air quotes while using the term “intellectuals.” Another X user posted that “out of all MAGA grifters, including Trump, Tucker and Jones, you’re the one who’s the most confused. You’re like an evil Forrest Gump.” Another critic said Greene was not doing enough to make her expressions of remorse into anything meaningful. “I think it was more that you were duped, refused to believe the evidence of your eyes and ears, and were politically ambitious,” the commenter said. “You hitched your car to the Trump Train, we get it. Now go f—— fix every single thing you helped break with this orange maniacal a——. Signed EVERY F—— AMERICAN.”Speaking to AlterNet on Wednesday, White House spokeswoman Taylor Rogers defended Trump’s controversial attack on Iran, saying “the United States’ energy dominance status, as the world’s leading producer and a top exporter of oil and natural gas, has positioned us to not rely on the free flow of oil through the Strait of Hormuz like other countries. If anything, Operation Epic Fury actually underscored the importance of producing reliable, affordable, and secure energy here at home.”Rogers then added, “Several countries from around the world are now looking to emulate the President’s energy dominance agenda and are advancing new partnerships that enhance their energy security with the United States.”
