RFA Tiderace has docked at Liverpool’s cruise terminal
A craft which refuels warships has docked on the Liverpool waterfront. RFA Tiderace provides logistical support to the Royal Navy and is predominantly deployed on replenishment at sea operations. These involve refuelling Royal Navy ships while they are on operations, delivering vital supplies and transporting specialist personnel, including Royal Marines Commandos.
RFA Tiderace also takes part in other maritime operations, including policing shipping lanes and providing humanitarian aid. She is the second in a fleet of four 39,000 tonne Tide Class tankers, which maintain the navy’s dedicated bulk fuel replenishment at sea capabilities all around the world.
ECHO photographer Iain Watts captured images this afternoon of the craft from the Liverpool side, as well as the Dazzle Ferry Snowdrop Mersey ferry from the Wirral side.
