A dispersal order has been put in place after reports of gangs of youths causing trouble in the area
Police have been granted extra powers in part of Wirral following a rise in anti-social behaviour in the area. The dispersal order came into force at 4pm today (Wednesday, April 8) and will remain in place for 48 hours, until 3.59pm on Friday.
It follows reports of groups of youths causing disruption locally. Officers from Merseyside Police say they will maintain a high-visibility presence in the area during the enforcement period and respond to any incidents.
The order has been authorised under Section 34 of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, giving officers the power to direct anyone suspected of being involved in crime, nuisance or anti-social behaviour to leave the area for up to 48 hours.
Those who fail to comply risk arrest.
Police can also seize items linked to anti-social behaviour, including vehicles.
The dispersal zone covers a number of roads and public areas, including Croft Drive, Croft Drive East, Caldy Road, Village Road, Hilbre View, Grange Road, Orrysdale Road, Bridge Road, Meols Drive, Pinfold Lane, as well as West Kirby Beach and Caldy Beach. It also includes surrounding footpaths and pavements up to the boundaries of nearby homes.
A Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) is already in place in the area as part of ongoing efforts to tackle anti-social behaviour.
Police ask any concerns to be reported to officers in the area.
