A new sauna set to open in Liverpool has dropped its original name and branding in favour of a “bigger and better concept”. The business, previously known as Death By Sauna, has been removed from social media and online platforms and reintroduced as Attis Bathing Club.
Death By Sauna was an infrared sauna and plunge studio concept with striking bright red and black branding and a minimalist style. The venue was expected to open in the Baltic Triangle before autumn, stating a ‘spring/summer’ window last year.
The opening was pushed back to an undisclosed window, with a spokesperson for the sauna telling the ECHO the team was “still working on it”. Death by Sauna’s exact location was not confirmed at the time.
The business’s online presence has since been scrubbed, with its social media accounts removed and relaunched under the name Attis Bathing Club.
Minimalist black and white branding promotes the sauna bathing club, featuring the slogan: “Hot. Cold. Better.” The spokesperson said the rebrand is to make way for a “bigger and better” concept in a new location and more to offer.
Attis Bathing Club is scheduled to open in Liverpool in summer, with its exact location still under wraps. The team also oversee The Merchant bar on Slater Street and country pub restaurant Ring O’Bells in Ormskirk.
The venue will be Liverpool’s second purpose-built sauna following WYLD on Princes Dock, which opened in November 2024. WYLD Sauna is the UK’s first floating sauna experience and provides a traditional Nordic experience for guests to relax and escape in the city centre.
The sauna allows guests to lap up all the cosy heat they can handle. Afterwards, you can dive straight into the waters surrounding the structure for an immediate cooldown.
WYLD released plans for a secondary custom-designed, 16-person floating sauna located next to the current site. The sauna will be available for private hire, group bookings, corporate sessions, and retreat-style experiences.
Additional upgrades include private changing cubicles on the quayside, new showers for guests to rinse off with their own products, permanent toilets and improved dockside infrastructure, and a new quayside café and outdoor seating area.
Other improvements being made include upgraded sauna heaters for more consistent and powerful heat delivery, reduced general capacity to prioritise comfort and space, dedicated quiet sessions and women-only sessions.
There will also be dedicated men-on and women-only sessions tailored times for Liverpool’s wider communities including faith-based groups, LGBTQ+ guests, and those aged 50 and over.
New formats such as silent or whisper-only sessions, sound baths, and aromatherapy-infused ceremonies will also feature in the weekly schedule.
