Luyen Vu, known as the ‘Liverpool Bleph Lady’, was twice exposed by undercover reporters as performing surgeries without qualifications
A woman who was twice exposed as performing cosmetic surgeries in Liverpool without any medical qualifications is planning to continue to practise on British patients in Germany, according to messages shared with the ECHO.
Luyen Vu, known as the ‘Liverpool Bleph Lady’, was confronted by undercover reporters over performing surgeries including blepharoplasty in a flat above a restaurant in the city centre.
In July 2025, an undercover investigation found Luyen Vu, known on social media as the ‘Liverpool Bleph Lady’, was offering surgical procedures from a flat on Berry Street. 5 News booked an appointment with Ms Vu, who has no verified UK medical qualifications.
The appointment was booked in minutes via text message, according to 5 News. However, they said the undercover reporter was given the address only 48 hours in advance, which led to the flat, where Luyen Vu and an assistant appeared to be prepared to carry out both procedures under local anaesthetic – for cash.
At the appointment, 5 News reported that Ms Vu appeared to be prepared to begin the procedure without basic checks. No medical consultation or patient history was taken, and when asked, Ms Vu was unwilling to verify her qualifications. When asked by a reporter whether she was a doctor or how many surgeries she had performed, Ms Vu also refused to answer.
And in December, another report by 5 News found Ms Vu working again from the Berry Street flat.
A source told the ECHO Vu is now operating from a hotel in Bonn, Germany. Bookings are being offered on nine dates between April and May, according to messages seen by the ECHO.
Bookings appear to be being arranged through WhatsApp. Those making the bookings appear to be from the UK. In messages seen by the ECHO, one woman talks of flying from Belfast with her mother-in-law.
She writes: “What airport do we fly to and do I get a taxi from the airport to the place for surgery? This is so nerve wracking. I’ve never done this before.” Another talks about having an “upper and lower bleph”.
At the time of the 5 News investigation, health secretary Wes Streeting said: “This is an extremely concerning case you’ve raised with me, and I will go away now and look at the laws in place to make sure that we don’t have loopholes that enable this kind of unsafe and unregulated practice.”
The ECHO attempted to contact Ms Vu for comment.
