Everton FC at Goodison Park, the Grand National and people enjoying themselves across the city are some of our favourite April memories over the past decades
Photographs reveal what life looked like in Liverpool during the month of April in years gone by. We’re now at the beginning of a new month – and these archive photos are a fascinating glimpse into our past.
Courtesy of our archives, Mirrorpix, these photos were taken between the 1920s and 2000s and show this time of year through the ages. In some images you can see events surrounding the Grand National, as well as building work, demolition and people going about their day to day lives.
You can also see what life was like at some of the city’s most celebrated pubs, as well as lost businesses, such as the famous Jack Sharp.
For those who remember it, these images are bound to stir some memories. And for those who don’t – they are a fascinating window into how things used to be and look in Liverpool.
