You’ve scrapped your plan to scrap the cap! Camilla Tominey clashes with Zia Yusuf on Reform U-turns

Camilla Tominey has grilled Zia Yusuf over Reform’s apparent “U-turn” on lifting the two-child benefits cap.Clashing with the GB News host, Reform’s Home Affairs spokesman slapped down the claim in the context of economic hardship gripping Britain. Dressing down Mr Yusuf, Camilla said: “One minute, Farage is saying that he wants to scrap the two-child benefit cap for British couples who are both in work. “Then Robert Jenrick comes in, and suddenly you’ve abandoned that policy. So what are you doing about the two-child benefit cap? You’ve scrapped your plan to scrap the cap!”Shooting back, the Reform Home Affairs spokesman said: “First of all, the original position was that we would scrap it only for British workers where both people were in work. That would, in the end, have effectively kept the cap above 99 per cent for recipients. “Now, you talk about U-turns…. We’re being clear with the British people about what a Reform government would do if we won the next general election.“What we are saying is, frankly, the country’s finances are not in a position to lift the cap,” Mr Yusuf warned.Camilla returned: “I’m merely making the point that all parties change their minds sometimes, and there’s nothing necessarily wrong with that.” WATCH THE FULL CLIP ABOVE
