Barcelona must now negotiate a transfer fee with Manchester United for Marcus Rashford after his €30 million (£26.1m) clause expired in March.
Rashford joined Barcelona on loan from United last summer and has impressed this season with 10 goals and 13 assists so far.
Barcelona had the option to sign the 28-year-old for €30m (£26.1m) at the end of the season as part of their loan agreement with United.
However, Cadena SER report that the option expired at the end of March, meaning that Barcelona must now agree on a new transfer fee with United if they want to permanently sign Rashford this summer.
The report adds that Barcelona have already asked to extend Rashford’s loan for a second season but United have ‘strongly opposed’ the idea.
Barcelona are now once again heavily reliant on Rashford’s desire to play for the club and are reluctant to get involved in a bidding war with rival teams.

Last summer, Rashford had been holding out for a move to Barcelona, even though the Spanish champions were prioritising deals for Nico Williams, who signed a new contract with Athletic Bilbao, and Luis Diaz, who left Liverpool to join Bayern Munich.
But ahead of the summer transfer window, Rashford has already received interest from more than one Premier League club.
Rashford now has the chance to secure an extended run in the team as Raphinha has been ruled out for the next five weeks due to the hamstring injury he suffered while on international duty with Brazil.
Barcelona currently sit four points clear of Real Madrid at the top of La Liga, while they are due to play Atletico Madrid in the Champions League quarter-final this month.
