Toronto police are investigating after shots were fired at the United States consulate in downtown Toronto, Ontario, on Tuesday morning, authorities said. Officers were called to the scene near University Avenue and Queen Street West at about 5:29 am local time after reports that a firearm had been discharged at the consulate building. When police arrived, they found evidence that shots had been fired, and parts of the consulate property showed signs of gunfire. No injuries were reported and no one has been arrested. Toronto police said they had no information on a suspect, motive, or possible suspects. Investigators remain on the scene, and part of University Avenue has been closed while the probe continues. Police asked witnesses with information or dash‑cam footage from the area to come forward.

The US consulate is located in a busy part of downtown Toronto, close to City Hall and the provincial legislature. This incident comes amid other security concerns involving American diplomatic sites abroad. On Sunday, an improvised device exploded outside the US embassy in Oslo, Norway, injuring no one but causing minor damage, and Norwegian police were still searching for a suspect.
