Second Lady Usha Vance reveals how she decided to go for a fourth child.

Second Lady Usha Vance will become the first person to give birth while her husband is Vice President since the 1870s. But she said she was not aware of this data before she got pregnant with Usha and JD Vance’s fourth child.

The Vances are expecting a boy in July. In an exclusive interview with NBC News, Usha said she never felt the pressure of being the ‘first’ anything — as she is also the first second lady to be Hindu. On her pregnancy, Usha said it is far different from her previous three as she has to dress up more often for her role as the second lady. “My last pregnancy, there were a lot of sweat pants,” she said. “I was working from home — you know, sometimes put a blazer on over what was under.”

Usha on planning her fourth pregnancy

Recently, JD Vance said he persuaded Usha Vance to have a fourth child. “I remember when we decided to run for vice president, I said, ‘Honey, I really want to have a fourth kid.’ And she said, ‘Well, you can become vice president or you can have a fourth baby,’” the vice president recounted. “But, ladies and gentlemen, I am persuasive, because I got both,” JD said. Usha Vance said maybe JD was right in calling himself ‘persuasive’, but she never closed the door on that.

“I grew up in a family of two. And I thought that was a great number. And then I had two kids, and I thought — I didn’t feel quite done, right?” Usha Vance said. “So I really wanted to have a third child.” Usha has a sister, Shreya. After the birth of their third child, the family felt complete but she did not close the option of having another child. “We have our daughter, who’s amazing, and it was great. And so I just wasn’t sure.

But as time passed, I realized that I was feeling more and more, kind of, excited about that possibility.”“And so if there was a chance, I should take it, and I knew that I’d be happy if we only had three kids, and I knew that I’d be happy if we had four. And so here we are.”Usha Vance is launching her podcast just for children and she said her children helped with the design and the decor of her podcast studio.
