US Green Card holders and some select visa holders in the US can not get visa-free entry to Argentina, the immigration authority of the South American country has said in its updated rules.

The move is aimed at simplifying the immigration procedures, facilitating the entry of travelers as the country expresses confidence in the US documentation process.

What is the new visa-free entry rule?

Green Card holders from the US will not require a visa to enter Argentina, provided all other requirements are metAnyone with a valid B1/B2, B2, J, B1, O, P (P1, P2, and P3), E, and H-1B won’t require visa, provided they fulfil other criteria.

Which countries will come under the new immigration rules?

First of all, US Green Card holders are now exempt from requiring a visa to enter Argentina.

The new immigration rules also apply to nationals of China, India, and the Dominican Republic, depending on the purpose of travel.ChinaVisa-free entry applicable to:

Other visa holders must obtain an Argentine visa in advance. “This regulatory update provides additional flexibility for travelers who already hold qualifying US immigration documentation.

By recognizing US visas and permanent resident cards as alternative entry credentials, Argentina reduces administrative requirements and helps facilitate international mobility,” Matias Celatti, a lead consultant at the immigration services firm Newland Chase, said. “For employers managing global mobility programs, the change may streamline short-term travel planning for eligible employees while maintaining compliance with Argentine immigration rules. Organizations should still confirm eligibility and ensure that travelers hold valid documentation before departure to cross borders with confidence,” Celatti said.
