A man from Birkenhead has been charged
A woman has died and a man is fighting for his life after a crash in the early hours of Sunday, March 1. Kane Farragher, 24, from Birkenhead, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a head-on collision on the A19 in Sunderland.
Northumbria Police were called to the scene after a BMW was reportedly driven on the wrong side of the carriageway and smashed into a VW Sharan. A woman in her 20s, who was a passenger in the BMW, sustained fatal injuries and another passenger, a man in his 20s, was seriously injured. The force said the man is in hospital in a life-threatening condition.
Farragher will face causing death by dangerous driving, causing death by driving whilst disqualified and causing serious injury by dangerous driving charges at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court today, Tuesday, March 3.
