It’s looking like a more promising day compared to yesterday’s wintry weather
The UK was hit with some unwelcome wintry conditions yesterday as the colder Arctic air brought strong winds, wintery showers and even snow in some areas- but is it getting warmer today? Unsettled weather has spread across the region in the past few days following last week’s glimpse of some sunnier weather.
It’s hard to believe people were making the most of the sunshine just last week. ECHO photographers captured people in the city centre enjoying a drink after work or getting some fresh air in Sefton Park.
The weather soon made a dramatic U-turn and yesterday (Wednesday, March 25), a number of businesses and events in Merseyside were forced to stay closed as high winds hit the region. Stanley Park Market was cancelled over health and safety concerns due to forecasted high winds.
The BBC warned people should prepare for a major U-turn in the weather, with wind, rain and hail expected. However, things are slightly looking up as we head into the end of the week as the forecaster said Thursday will feel “less cold”.
It’s looking like a chillier start to the day, but we could see some more sunshine compared to yesterday’s wet weather.
In its outlook for Thursday, the BBC said: “By Thursday, the strong north-westerly wind bringing the colder Arctic air will make a switch to a less cold west or south-westerly wind.
“After the chilly start, there will be lots of sunshine and with lighter winds, it will not feel as cold as Wednesday. Temperatures will then start to recover slightly on Friday with highs of 7-13C, closer to the average for late March.”
