Three people have been named as suspects after almost 200 animals were recovered from a Merseyside home. Merseyside Police and RSPCA officers were called to an address on Hylton Avenue in Wallasey in October 2024 and remained at the scene for several days.
The ECHO understood at the time officers removed more than 100 animals from from the house, with an investigation being launched into the incident. One neighbour said around 100 animals were removed, with cages being seen taken out of the property.
In the front garden, pet carriers, trays and cages were seen scattered across the grass.
According to court documents, three people have been charged in connection with the recovery of the animals. Matthew Christian Lucker, 20, Joseph Luker, 22, and Helen Susan Miles, 48, all of Hylton Avenue, have been charged under the Animal Welfare Act 2006.
Court papers state they are suspected of not meeting the needs of the animals.
The documents list the animals alleged to have been mistreated as being: 19 dogs, 42 rabbits, 42 rats, three mice, two chinchillas, three degus, two gerbils, 42 various species of birds, six quails, 18 parrots, one leopard gecko, six guinea pigs and four conjures.
The three people are due to appear at Wirral Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, Thursday, March 19.
