Police warned this is not a “victimless crime”
Thieves broke into a Merseyside industrial park and stole more than 20 pallets of Kingfisher tuna in the early hours of this morning, Wednesday. Merseyside Police were called to Knowsley Industrial Park at around 6.25am on Wednesday, March 18 after two men reportedly stole the pallets of tuna from a trailer.
Police believe the theft happened between 2am and 5.30am, before a truck arrived to remove the goods from the industrial park this morning.
Detective Chief Inspector Leanne Toole said: “We take all reports of thefts from businesses extremely seriously because of the detrimental impact it can have on staff and the wider community.
“They are not victimless crimes – they can have a devastating ripple effect that can lead to people losing their jobs, prices rising as businesses seek to make up for the lost revenue and more.
“Merseyside Police is committed to tackling such offences by working with businesses, the security industry and other partners to disrupt and deter offenders and bring them to justice when thefts do occur.
“We would encourage anyone who has been offered Kingfisher tuna in unusual circumstances since the incident, or anyone with information about retail crime to get in touch so we can investigate.”
