Senegal have stunningly been stripped of their Africa Cup of Nations title after Morocco, who they beat in January’s final in Rabat, saw their appeal to the Confederation of African Football’s disciplinary committee upheld, it was confirmed on Tuesday night. Morocco lost the match at Stade Prince Moulay Abdellah on 18 January after extra time but not before Senegal’s players, under orders from their head coach, Pape Bouna Thiaw, had left the pitch in protest at a penalty being awarded against them near the end of regulation time after El Hadji Malick Diouf was penalised, following a video assistant referee
