The driver of a Toyota involved in a serious crash remains in hospital in a critical condition. Emergency services were called to Mab Lane in West Derby just before 5.40am on February 27 after reports a Toyota Yaris had been involved in a crash with a Peugeot 108 and a wall.
Merseyside Police confirmed the driver of the Yaris was rushed to hospital following the incident. In a brief update on Sunday the force confirmed the driver, a 45-year-old man from Stockbridge Village, remains in a critical condition.
Following the incident investigators launched a probe into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Roads policing officers remained at the scene throughout Friday carrying out inquiries.
The force previously said it was keen to speak to a dog walker who reportedly called an ambulance shortly after the crash. A spokesperson said officers believe the person may have vital information that could assist their investigation.
Merseyside Police roads policing Inspector Ian Cowell said: “We are keen to speak with the female dog walker who was on Mab Lane at the time of the incident and called an ambulance from another person’s mobile.
“We are keen to stress that the woman is not in any trouble and did the right thing in contacting emergency services.
“We would like them to come forward to assist with our enquiries. I urge the woman to please identify yourself and contact us as a matter of urgency.
“I would also appeal to anyone else who witnessed the collision on Mab Lane at 5.40am today or who was driving in the area and has any dashcam footage of what happened to contact us. Any information or footage you have could be vital to our ongoing investigation.”
A large police cordon was put in place while officers carried out initial enquiries. The road had reopened by 3pm on Friday. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has further information is urged to contact police.
A spokesperson for the police said: If you have information on this incident please contact @MerPolCC on Twitter or ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook with log 125 of Friday 27 February. You can also call 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
