*Warning: Contains spoilers for Season 2 of Last One Laughing UK*

Last One Laughing viewers were left incensed after watching what they described as an “unfair” elimination.

The Prime Video programme, presented by Jimmy Carr, features an array of comedy stars including Alan Carr, David Mitchell, Mel Giedroyc, and Diane Morgan amongst numerous other comedians attempting the challenge of making each other laugh, while keeping a straight face themselves.

The show is drawing closer to the finale, but in the most recent episode of the popular series, it was Romesh Ranganathan who received a red card and was subsequently eliminated from the contest.

During his final moments on the show, host Jimmy concealed himself in a cupboard and presented him with a proposition, which eventually caused Romesh to burst into laughter. However, fans were far from pleased that Romesh, who has fronted numerous stand-up tours and also presents the revival of The Weakest Link on BBC, was knocked out, reports the Mirror.

Taking to X, one fan raged: “Romesh deserved better,” while another said: “Harsh!!! Can’t go after Romesh like that!! At least go after David or Sam [Campbell] who don’t have cards! #lastonelaughing #lastonelaughinguk.”

Another commented: “That was DIRTY play on Romesh. I 100% agree about it being unfair!” while a fourth said: ” ‘I know it’s a laugh and it shouldn’t matter but Romesh got absolutely dogged in this ep. If it happens to everyone then fair enough.”

A fifth wrote: “Maybe the most unfair red card so far, as another commented: ‘I know he’s playing around but i think Romesh is right and he shouldn’t be out because Jimmy singled him out.”

Elsewhere, This Morning presenter Martin Lewis delivered a brilliant response to Alan Carr’s smutty joke made at his expense on the series. The Celebrity Traitors champion left audiences cringing on Last One Laughing following a crude gag about the Money Saving Expert.

Alan, aiming to stir up some mischief, gave it his all to break his fellow performers. He told them: “It’s not who you know, it’s who you blow. You know who told me that? Martin Lewis, the money man.”

Martin, the highly-regarded consumer rights advocate, was evidently tuning in and responded after Alan made the joke during episode two. He shared on his social media platforms: “Many people asking me did I see what Alan Carr said about me on Last One Laughing.”

Defending champion Bob Mortimer has also returned to retain his crown in the programme that tests comedians’ ability to make each other laugh while keeping a straight face themselves. It’s not only their fellow participants they need to watch out for – there are celebrity guest appearances to navigate as well.

Fans have flocked to X, formerly Twitter, to express their opinions on the second series thus far, with one writing: “@RealBobMortimer is a comedy genius! His latest song on Last One Laughing, though…I couldn’t breathe!” Another posted: “I’m only ten minutes in of episode one and already peed myself laughing. I’d be f***** in this show #lastonelaughing.”

A third remarked: “Started S2 of #LastOneLaughing last night and no one, NO ONE, is going to top Diane Morgan’s joker, I fear.” A fourth concluded: “Has to be one of the funniest things to watch in quite a few years. Absolutely brilliant.”

Last One Laughing UK is available to stream on Prime Video.
