The family of a dad who died in a crash on the M6 have paid tribute to him. Daniel Hill died on Tuesday, March 3, when he was involved in a crash on the M6.
Daniel, 34, was a passenger in a white Renault van which crashed with a crane truck northbound between junctions 16, near Crewe, and 17, near Sandbach, of the motorway. The dad-of-six, from Oldham, was found dead at the scene by emergency responders.
In a tribute shared by Cheshire Police, Daniel’s family said: “Danny was a hardworking family man whose partner and six children were the centre of his world, and everything he did was for them.
“An avid rugby and football supporter, he proudly played rugby for his town team and had a great love of music.
“Danny was known for his sense of humour and his ability to make people laugh, often entertaining friends and family with his impressions of comedians like Lee Evans.
“He was a well-liked and memorable character — a devoted partner and father, and a beloved son and brother.
“His loss has left his family heartbroken, and he will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him.”
The driver of the van, a 30-year-old man, also from the Manchester area, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Royal Stoke Hospital for treatment.
Following the crash shortly before 8pm on March 3, police closed the northbound carriageway until the early hours the following day.
Inspector Andrew Dennison said at the time: “As part of our investigation into the circumstances of this tragic incident, we would like to appeal to anyone who witnessed what happened and has not already spoken to police to get in touch with us.
“The same goes for anyone who has any CCTV or dashcam footage. Our thoughts remain with the man’s family and friends at this sad time.”
