Lucy Fallon has shed light on her future in Coronation Street after an eight-year stint as Bethany Platt.
The actress first graced the ITV soap in 2015, portraying Sarah’s (Tina O’Brien) daughter – she exited in 2020 and made a comeback in 2023. Over the years, Bethany has been embroiled in numerous major plotlines.
From being groomed to undergoing botched surgery, Bethany’s tenure in Weatherfield has been anything but drama-free. The character also returned to the soap in October of the previous year, following the conclusion of Lucy’s maternity leave.
Of late, however, Bethany has only featured sporadically on the soap. Nonetheless, Lucy has confirmed that despite not being “very busy” on Coronation Street currently, she has no plans to depart.
When quizzed about potentially exiting the soap, Lucy told The Mirror: “I’ve done that once before, I don’t plan on doing it again.”, reports the Daily Star.
“You get periods of time where you’re not in – I’m not very busy there at the moment, which has been really nice because I get to spend time with Sonny and Nancy [her two children]”. She then hinted at an upcoming storyline, adding: “But in a few weeks’ time, I’m going to be busy again.”
Away from the cobbles, Lucy is blissfully engaged to footballer Ryan Ledson, whom she agreed to marry back in November. The couple are parents to daughter Nancy, born in January 2025, and son Sonny, born in 2023.
Announcing her engagement news last year, Lucy shared a series of photographs on Instagram displaying her stunning engagement ring. In the opening image, she and Ryan, who are parents to Sonny and Nancy, captured a selfie whilst she raised her hand towards the camera, with the bride-to-be appearing visibly moved as tears welled in her eyes.
A further photograph depicted Lucy seated in a restaurant, where she was pictured raising her glass with her beautiful engagement ring gleaming on her wedding finger. Accompanying the post, the soap star wrote: “Ending the birthday weekend with my best friend as a fiancé!!!! I can’t wait to marry you @ryanledson8.”
Speaking recently about motherhood, Lucy told OK!: “They’re great, but they’re such a handful – especially Sonny at the moment. He’s got the terrible twos a little bit late, I’d say!”
The television star also discovered the shift from one child to two more challenging than anticipated. She admitted. “I think going from zero to one was easier.
“I think it’s the age gap as well – Sonny was still a baby when I had Nancy, and whilst it’s so lovely and seeing how they interact now, the juggle of having a toddler, a baby and work is quite hard.”
Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX
