Coronation Street provided an update on Max Turner during Thursday’s episode, one year after actor Paddy Bever departed the cobbles.
Max, portrayed by 23 year old Paddy, was last seen on the ITV soap in March 2025 when he was arrested and imprisoned after confessing to setting No. 8 ablaze in an attempted insurance fraud scheme to assist his father David Platt with his financial troubles at the time.
Earlier this week, David and Shona Platt were consumed with anxiety when their baby daughter Harper underwent surgery, discovering that she had experienced a minor bleed and was being cared for in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
Throughout the scenes, Max was referenced twice as Bethany Platt took a call from him enquiring about Harper’s condition. At the beginning of the episode, Bethany picked up the house phone and said: “Max? Hey, how are you doing!
“No, your dad and Shona are still at the hospital, I’m just taking Lily to school. Yeah, the baby’s all good, all fine. Listen, Lily is going to end up being late, would you be able to call your dad on his mobile? Alright, I’ll speak to you soon, bye.”, reports the Daily Star.
Subsequently, at the hospital, David took a call from Max on his mobile, responding: “Yeah, Harper’s fine, we’re just going to go to the canteen get some food. Why would I have your ABBA CD?” as he walked away to continue his conversation.
Max was a regular fixture on the cobbles from 2010 to 2025. Initially, the character was portrayed by Harry McDermott before Paddy assumed the role in 2021.
However, in 2025, Max found himself behind bars over the Platt house fire.
Discussing his decision to exit the ITV soap at the time, actor Paddy stated: “After much reflection and in an incredibly difficult decision, I have chosen to step away from Max and Coronation Street to explore new opportunities. I have been surrounded by such kindness and support every step of the way.
“I’m eternally grateful for the chance to bring Max’s story to life and it’s been a great privilege to contribute to the legacy of such a well-loved and iconic show.
“This chapter has been unforgettable and whilst I look forward to what lies ahead, I will treasure these memories.”
Since departing the ITV soap, it seems that Paddy hasn’t taken on any new roles and maintains a low-key presence on social media. However, in November, he marked his birthday by sharing some photos and captioned them: “birthday week for ever.”
Reacting in the comments, Bethany Platt actress Lucy Fallon wrote: “gorgeous boy x” whilst DS Lisa Swain actress Vicky Myers added: “Happy Birthday x.”
Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX
