Coronation Street spoilers reveal George Shuttleworth takes action after discovering Theo Silverton’s domestic abuse of Todd Grimshaw

Coronation Street viewers are set for drama next week as George Shuttleworth finally uncovers the sinister behaviour of Theo Silverton.

For months, Theo, portrayed by James Cartwright, has been putting Todd Grimshaw, portrayed by Gareth Pierce, through a harrowing domestic abuse storyline, controlling and manipulating him at every opportunity.

In recent episodes, after cutting Todd off from his friends and money, Theo threatened his partner with a knife before ending the relationship – but it’s all been a ploy to maintain control over Todd. On Friday’s episode, Theo even drugged Todd’s drink to guarantee he missed the marathon.

This week, Theo declares he has a surprise planned for Todd, guiding him blindfolded to the register office and revealing that their wedding can still proceed since it was never formally cancelled.

Meanwhile, Todd’s former stepfather and work colleague, George Shuttleworth, becomes wary of Theo as he hints to Todd that Theo isn’t right for him, pledging to monitor the couple closely, reports the Daily Star.

However, matters take a shocking turn when George pops round for a cuppa later in the week. When Theo arrives home and, believing Todd is in the bathroom, launches into a torrent of abuse through the door… it emerges that George was actually in the bathroom and heard every word.

And now, fresh spoilers for next week have disclosed the aftermath as Christina Boyd and Summer Spellman inform Sarah Platt about George’s concerns regarding Theo’s abuse of Todd, leaving her devastated that Todd has been enduring this alone.

Later, when Todd turns up at work and discovers they’re talking about him, he jumps to Theo’s defence – but George isn’t convinced. Meanwhile, Sarah expresses her concerns to a sceptical Gary Windass, but as she lists all the incidents suggesting domestic abuse, he finally grasps the reality.

As Todd prepares himself to enter the flat, Gary turns up and offers to accompany him. Hearing the key in the door, Theo hurls abuse, but is taken aback to find Todd accompanied by Gary…

Later in the week, Gary hands Theo his tools and tells him he’s been dismissed. Meanwhile, George visits the flat and gives Todd a holdall, explaining it’s his escape bag packed with essentials, ready for when he needs to leave quickly.

However, the situation deteriorates when Theo discovers Todd’s escape bag. Acting swiftly, Todd lies and insists it’s a gift from George connected to their Belfast plans.

Later, Theo decides to confront George at the Bistro. When Sarah and Summer discover that Todd intends to go to Belfast with Theo, they are horrified – can they convince him otherwise?

Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
