A Castle Street restaurant has closed its doors to make way for an “exciting new brand”. Italian concept Pasta Cosa is undergoing a refurbishment that will see the concept return “better than ever”.

Menu items include hot dishes such as bolognese, pomodoro, carbonara, pesto and primavera, as well as cold options like tuna, mixed vegetables, cured meats, chicken and pancetta. The success of the restaurant led to the announcement of a second establishment opening in Liverpool’s city centre.

In September last year, Pasta Cosa announced the opening of a new site on Liverpool’s Royal Albert Dock. Pasta Cosa said: “A new chapter begins. We’re so excited to share our fresh new look with you and even more excited to announce that we have a new store opening at Albert Dock in the coming months.

“It’s still us, the same family run business serving the pasta you love, just with a new identity and a brand new second space to call home.”

At the time, Pasta Cosa said it would keep the Castle Street spot open. The statement added: “Our Castle Street store still remains open every day, dishing up your favourites, and later this year, it’ll be getting a little refurb too, so it’s an even better place to recharge and reconnect over pasta. Evolving together, one bowl of pasta at a time!”

A recent post shared on Instagram announced the Castle Street site would close for a refurbishment with an “exciting new brand” on the horizon. The post said: “Our Castle Street site will be closed for refurbishment from March 1 as we introduce our exciting new brand into the space.

“We can’t wait to welcome back both our regular customers and new visitors with a refreshed and better-than-ever Pasta Cosa. In the meantime, our Albert Dock location will continue to take orders for click and collect as well as bookings.” The reopening date and new concept are yet to be announced.

The Royal Albert Dock location opened in October at the hands of sisters Kayleigh and Talia Baccino. Located on the inner quay, the sisters, who now live in Aigburth but whose family are from Genoa, Italy, hoped the restaurant would be a “relaxed and welcoming space” where friends and families can enjoy Italian dishes against the stunning waterfront backdrop.

Kayleigh said: “The opportunity to open our second Pasta Cosa site in such a vibrant and historic location is a dream come true. The dock is a fantastic place with a real community feel, and we can’t wait to welcome both familiar faces and new customers to our new restaurant. Our goal is simple: to share our love of fresh, authentic Italian pasta in a place where everyone feels at home.”
