He alleged that Patel, under Trump’s direction, is attempting to release a decade-old investigative file involving Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-California) and a suspected Chinese intelligence operative. This move is seen as an attempt to discredit Swalwell, a vocal critic of Trump and a leading Democratic candidate for California governor.
“This abuse of the FBI is as dangerous as it is unlawful,” Schiff posted on X, accusing the Trump administration of weaponizing the DOJ against political opponents.
