A senior Labour minister has fired back at Kemi Badenoch after the Tories called for a ban on foreign languages in campaign literature.Asked about whether he was worried about the rise in sectarianism in British politics and whether parties should communicate in whatever language they want, Steve Reed told GB News: “I think it’s for political parties to choose how they campaign and communicate with British voters. “If they’re using British money that is funding their campaigns, and they’re speaking to people who have the right to vote, then why would you not show those voters the respect of communication?”Earlier today, Tory MP Paul Holmes declared that Britons “need transparency” amid plans to ban foreign languages being used in election campaign literature.Speaking to GB News, the Shadow Housing and Local Government Minister demanded a “level playing field” for voting in future elections.Mr Holmes exclusively revealed the details of his tabled amendment with GB News, where he warned of a “worrying rise in sectarian and separatist sentiment in our country”.Detailing the Representation of the People Bill, the Tory MP said the plan will make changes to “voting age” as well as language used in campaigns.WATCH STEVE REED’S FULL COMMENTARY ON THE BAN ABOVE.Our Standards:
