Kemi Badenoch has mocked Sir Keir Starmer over Angela Rayner’s speculated leadership ambitions during a fiery exchange at Prime Minister’s Questions. The Leader of the Opposition turned the tables on Sir Keir after being branded “weak” by the Prime Minister following Nick Timothy’s comments about Islam.Mrs Badenoch put Sir Keir on the backfoot over his decision to appoint Lord Mandelson as the UK’s Ambassador to the US. However, Sir Keir looked to direct his fury at Shadow Lord Chancellor Nick Timothy, likening his rhetoric to ex-English Defence League leader Tommy Robinson.“Even Tommy Robinson has said today that if the Shadow Justice Secretary had made these comments even two years ago, the Conservative Party would have kicked him out”, Sir Keir said.“Tommy Robinson isn’t some kind of moral signpost, but he was pointing out how much the party has changed and they are more inclined to his views. He is right about that.“The fact he [Nick Timothy] is still sat on that front bench show’s she [Kemi Badenoch] is too weak and has got absolutely no judgment.”Mrs Badenoch suggested Sir Keir is facing a threat from his former deputy leader, Angela Rayner, who she says is now trying to oust him.She said: “The Prime Minister wants to talk about my leadership? I’m shocked, because his former deputy [Angela Rayner] has fired the starting gun on the race to replace him.“She and I agree on one thing, this weak man should be replaced by a strong woman.”
